Not enough days or minutes in days

Okay, so I keep pledging my devotion to posting and informing everyone...well it just is not as easy as some seem to make it look!! Of course, if I spent time posting instead of reading everyone else's blogs and forums...then maybe I would get it all done.

A few more things have arrived at the shoppe....some additional Imperial 60 Khaki, Bristish Tan, Rice, White and Baby Blue.

Also on the shelves: Classic Couture patterns by Vaune Pierce...Womens jacket and Girls Sundress/Jumper. Of course the Oliver and S patterns are up front in baskets...have to get some samples made!!

Recently ordered some more laces and some wonderful sheer Swiss Batiste fabric, 58 inches wide. I can't wait to play with it, I think it will replace voile in my double layers? I am anxious to see how it looks over my Swiss Satin Batiste. Of course, that is my head is full or ideas and plans...ha...will I ever apply myself...we can only hope...before I age too much...LOL

On the other side of the shoppe....I am preparing for SAGA convention in Atlanta. Less thana month away!! The shop will be closed for the 10 days I am gone. I/We leave Sunday the 12th after the MRV Antique Sunday. It is also the day after the MRV [Mill Race Village] Fall Festival!! The temporary replacement for Cirque de Lune. I forsee total exhaustion BEFORE I even get to convention.

Holly Berries meets this Wednesday..12:30 to 3:30pm at the shoppe..we will be working on Wee Care and also making our plans for the SAGA Workshop in Novemember with Barbara Meger. Look for more information soon. You have to be a SAGA member to participate in the will be worth your joining...I promise.

My day with Claudia Newton was wonderful. I am also just about done with the darling little daygown we made. Photos coming!! and boy did I learn alot!! And did we ever pray our way home in the middle of Hanna...that was not the fun part. Why do trucks and SUV's think they can speed along in downpours with the roads flooded?? Me and my little Chevy puttered along and still I could feel the 'hydro' planing under my hands. But we are home safe...

Back to school things are keeping all busy I know. But don't sewing is stay tuned for new fabrics and ideas here!!

Rainy Days

Tomorrow, I travel to Delaware for a sewing class with a wonderful teacher, Claudia Newton. Of course it means I have to get up early...not my usual...and drive in the rain of 'Hanna'. The lesson is on a baby daygown, girl or boy. I look forward to seeing many of the SAGA ladies in Delaware. The shop will be open under the capable hands of my sister and my daughter. However, I don't expect that too many folks will be out looking for sewing things on a very nasty stormy day. I don't know...we shall see.

On another note, yesterday also saw the arrival of two more patterns....Vaune Pierce's Classic Couture. No photos yet, but they are lovely.

New Patterns

As I said I am back to working forward with sewing related things!! Of course my lack of organization will be the end of me yet!!

ANYWAY: Today will be the arrival of a new pattern company: OLIVER + S company. I look forward to getting some samples done and even having a class or two using these patterns. Paper dolls are included....I have always loved paper dolls.

More later...I am home on my ailing laptop...

Day after Labor Day

September has arrived. It arrived with beautiful sun, warm, and no humidity. The days are getting shorter and that is what makes me saddened to see summer leaving. But I welcome back to school time and look forward to the coming fall and winter holidays.

I am still having 'issues' with my laptop which is where I prefer to work from. HOPE springs eternal that by Friday this week it will be better.

Today I am home with dear Jon my grandson, and instead of planning shop news, I am off to play with him before school starts. He goes into 2nd grade tomorrow...growing up faster than we think.

After I take dear Sarah back to college tomorrow I am planning on returning my focus to shop things and classes. Until later...KEEP STITCHING ALL>>>

PS>>>Thank you God for sparing New Orleans this time. My prayers and heart go to all affected by the fury of Gustav. May the remaining storms peeter out and cause no harm. !!

Not related to the shoppe, but dear hubby is off to work today!! YEAH...and I am home fighting with a difficult laptop. AH LIFE...

Yesterday was fun, spent the day in King Of Prussia PA at the Interweave Bead Fest...oh my. Lots of beautiful beads, baubles, and more. I restrained myself, but even still, did get the beads for October's Breast Cancer pins. NOW the question is will they get done.?

Today is my day to fix up my off I go. Hopefully tomorrow will give me time to post/blog.

Computer hoo

I have had nothing but trouble the last few days...and it is continuing on. I took my laptop with me to the beach [no not on the beach...just to the apt.]; well, it was working fine when we got there. Just no internet connection...seems the world has gotten security aware...a good thing...but not good for us who want a quick hook up. ANYWAY...working fine on arrival, next morning...when I went to look for photos etc to share with my sister and friend lo and behold, my darling laptop was sick.

So, off to the beach I sunburned a bit, and in general had a very sweet mini vacation for a day. Next day, tried to get help from dear ole Dell...well...wouldn't you warranty had expired the day I arrived at the beach. HMMMMM....funnny....expired work computer. Why is this strange?? only because it happend to my pc before...same situation. I digress.

So now...finally, once I did get home...I had to reinstall my operating system. It still isn't quite right, but at least I can get to some sites....all through the back door.

So...hence my dissappearance from my internet friends.

As for the shoppe...Holly Berries met yesterday, and we had a good meeting. We now have to get busy and plan our workshop with Barbara Meger for Novemeber. Stay tuned...we will get there.

My internet connections are not I must go.

HOPE tomorrow to see more good news..

Going Stitching

I leave in a few hours...and I sit here typing on a blog. Not fully packed, not really organized...playing with way too many things. OH WELL...

We had a really productive workshop today with the Princeton Pleaters SAGA chapter!! I took NOT ONE photo. Sorry. We also had a really great pot luck salad supper...with ice cream sundaes for dessert, yummy. Thank you so much Linda for the use of your home.

Next week, the Holly Berries will have a workshop...I hope we can accomplish plenty of ready to do gowns.

Okay...I really should go to bed...I am way too excited...just like the night before school starts [back in my youngun days]. Thankfully, I am not the one driving, but still, I need to be rested. So long for now...I promise to post while I am in Va. Just wait till you see !!

Hello Sunday

At the moment, I really should be cleaning and sorting, but real quick, must post here. Last evening, I closed early and ran up to Morrisville, PA for an open air concert. Wonderful music by a local band, playing Big Band, Jazz, was lovely for two hours. Best part...our son was one of the Sax players!! Including a few spot solos...oh how my mom would have loved his IN the MOOD....ahhhh. Warning...if I put music in here, it will be Big Band/Jazz...what I grew up with. LOL

Okay, so I hope to post photos and more later this week of my stitching time at Lillie's. But if I really get the chance to sit and stitch all question...don't know.

It's hot, sticky and bright. A great summer, but too hot for me, who really needs the ocean breeze to enjoy. I was surfing last night [the net] and I am intriqued with putting a stitching time together again at the shore. YES Cape May...only not the 'production' type. Truely a stitching or two teachers. Early June...victorian hotel, no AC, no TV, very simple. ??Anyone interested?? Mid weekend. me if you are interested.

OKAY>>>dust bunnies and I come...Later folks..

Taking a Break

Sometimes, the good Lord will open windows and doors to let new air in!! Next week, I am off to stitch and study with Lillie McAnge in Virginia. This is a gift that I am happy to grab on to and take. Someday I will give it back or play it forward...however it works. But for now, I am running...yes running...away next Wednesday [July 23] until Sunday [July 27]. FEAR NOT...the shoppe will be open, with my lovely friend Melynda in charge. She does know her stitching and can help many people.

Stitching with Lillie is in my opinion is one of the best retreats for both needles and souls. [to be continued I have to get to work]

Well, our monthly meeting of the Holly Berries was a jumble, but then this president is a bit jumbpled today considering Hubby's job interview etc. Anyway, we did manage to get our doll patterns traced, discussed assembly, figure out some pitfalls and ultimately, decide to finish our doll dresses at the August meeting. Should be fun.

We also managed to discuss our National Wee Care project and decided to plan on July 30th to have a 'workshop' to get our contributions moving forward. Please read about SAGA's Wee Care at: and see what this international organization contributes.

As a Registered Nurse who worked for over 25 years in the Labor & Delivery, Nursery, Maternity sections of many different hospitals, Wee Care is special to me. I have personally seen, dressed and counciled parents of little ones that come into the world, already an angel of God, or who struggle to grow to precious children of special families. Wee Care gowns, blankets, bonnets, and more are such wonderful treasures and helps to these families. Don't think they are not appreciated, I know they are. I only wish I had one extra day or hours to do more. But haven't found that trick yet.

Welcome Margaret and Charlotte to Holly Berries. I know we will have fun getting this chapter moving. Also thanks to everyone else, Fran, Ginny, Shirley, Wanda, all make my
life so bright, I do thank you for that.

Tomorrow...or next day...posting something new to ponder...check back...

Silk Ribbon Flower Surprise

Thought all would enjoy seeing what our class today worked on. Five lovely ladies sat and practiced and learned some silk ribbon stitching. My class sample is less than grand, but it is a fun sampler with stitching being fun during class. All flowers, leaves, and dragon flies are done in 4mm silk ribbon. Dragonflies are copies from my friend's sampler. My joy comes from hearing that people are inspired to go home and continue stitching. And also inspired to add the pieces to their own projects. Hand stitching lives on!!

Sunday in the summertime

Sunday at the shop is either one way or the other, very busy or very quiet. Today, even with the village Antique and Craft Fair, it was very quiet. So I sat and finished my beading. I am thrilled with the results and will post the photos soon. Now I want to finish the other necklace, and start on an idea that has come to me during this frenzy. LOL....I have many other projects that will n eed to be finished first!! At the end of the day, my best friend and her dear hubby stopped by, making my day close very nice. In passing she mentioned someone wanting a Christening gown made. That is one of my favorite projects to do...a lovely dress for new life...affirming that God does plan for the world to continue on!! Amen...stay tuned...we will be busy soon.

International dealings

Being a small shop, specializing in classic Heirloom sewing and SMOCKING...I have carried Country Bumpkin's publications...books, & magazines. Recently there has been some problems with obtaining current issues of Australian Smocking & Embroidery. I posted my opinion on another forum as a response to someone's issues with private orders. WELL...I have just had two correspondences from the editor in chief. And I have to say, she was very kind in her expression of interest and concern regarding my own complaints. Thank you Helen, I am duely impressed and happy that even a small person/shop can receive such wonderful attention. I will continue to advertise and carry the Country Bumpkin line of publications! Now if our US distributorships could just be as nice.

Beading is also addicting

Okay, so instead of stitching on class projects Monday & Tuesday, I went to my friends' house and we beaded up some necklace samples for hopefully a class later this year. They are just too lovely. Photos to come. THEN I came back home and started another sample....and just love it. Can't wait to finish it for ME.

It is addicting in the same but different way from sewing or smocking. I love bits of bling..and this creates it for me just right. Hopefully others will enjoy creating this later!! Classes will be posted soon. Should be fun.
