Great updates

I am just thrilled to let everyone know that SAGA...Smocking Arts Guild of America now has a news blog!! :http://saganewsblogs.blogspot.com/2009/07/saganews-blogs.html

It will be fun to see our organization get out there on the 'blogging' world. Not an easy job I know...but I know our 'SAGA blogger" will do a great job!!

Also...Childrens Corner has posted help videos on their website. A wonderful quick link for those pesky questions on some of sewing details:

I carry most of the Children's Corner Patterns and even I have had issues with how to finish some of the lining patterns. ;-0

Now in stock: Gail Doane's Book Sew Cute Couture and coming this week...Embroider's Handbook will be back in stock.

Christmas in July is in progress!! The entry table has items on it all are 20% off. And fabrics with red or green are also 20% off.

Beads are coming...crystals, pearls, and kits. NO I am not becoming a bead store, but I think adding some sparkle to sewing is fun. And making some small pieces of jewelry to go with outfits...not a bad thing. Watch for the sparkle to start in early August.

One other note of interest...my friend and mentor Beverley Sheldrick is home getting ready to deal with her Breast Cancer. I am asking for all the prayers we can send up for her conquest of the disease. I thank you all for your concern and support.

Enjoy Summer...and as always...Keep stitching!!

News about Beverley

As I posted earlier, the summer school classes with Beverley Sheldrick have been cancelled. WHY?? Beverley discovered a lump in her breast and does indeed have Breast Cancer. She will be having surgery later this month in New Zealand so all teaching engagements are stopped for the time being. I do know that she has said " other than a wonky looking boob...I am feeling fine and it will be fine!!" I wish I could jump across the ocean and be there, but sadly that will not happen today. Please keep her in your prayers!!

So now the shop is settling into summer with this gorgeous weather [so far]. New things into the shop include:

SEW CUTE COUTURE by Gail Doane. IF you don't have this book and love smocking and embroidery...this book will give you a lifetime of inspiration. Complete with patterns and full color photos...I have already dreamt of five sweet outfits using either fabric from the shoppe or from my home stash. A wonderful book for smockers !!

288 beautiful colors of FINCA cotton floss by PRESENCIA arrived!! When I say beautiful...I mean soft, and grouped by color family not number!! Made in Spain, there is also varigated floss...and three metallic...silver, light gold, gold. I am pleased to have this floss...and hope to expand to the complete collect for Perl Cotton and SEWING threads.

Additional handkerchief linen is in...Tan/brown. White.

Oliver n S patterns are up front...and hopefully come fall a trunk show!! along with her new pattern. And if all goes really well...I hope to have the designer in for a day of sewing class using her newest pattern. Details/dates coming!!

Again, I have to say THANK YOU to all for the support and encouragement I receive from all who shop with me. As I continue to try and up grade, update and continue filling inventory I thank you all for helping keep my little slice of heaven going. Todays' economy is not encouraging, but so far...we continue.

Enjoy summer stitching....more news soon!!

SUMMER SCHOOL CANCELLED

It seems that all our hopes and plans for lessons with Beverley Sheldrick are not meant to be this summer. Beverley called me June 30th to cancel everything for sudden unexpected conflicts. When I know more details I will share them but for now I understand the situation.

Planning classes, schools, events in business can be tricky. I have been blessed these years that putting classes together on the 'fly' has worked. But I suppose now I need to make a calendar for sure and stitch with it!!

Happy Fourth of July to all...Have a good holiday with family and friends...The shoppe is closed SATURDAY and Sunday so that I can be with my family. God Bless the USA!!
